Foundation for Voter Access

Trusted insight on Florida’s 2026 cannabis legalization initiative.

Florida is preparing to vote — again — on a decision that will shape access, equity, and policy for decades. But most voters still aren’t getting the full picture.

We exist to change that.

What Happened — And What’s Next

In 2024, Floridians voted on a constitutional amendment to legalize adult-use cannabis. The initiative earned 56% of the vote — a clear majority, but short of the 60% threshold required to pass.

Now, the same initiative is expected to return in 2026. The group behind it, Smart & Safe Florida, has already collected over 377,000 verified signatures, prompting a new round of state Supreme Court review.

But the public conversation around legalization is still being shaped by headlines, ad campaigns, and talking points — not accessible facts.
